- PublicationUnderstanding and Improving the Lived Experiences of Sexual and Gender Minority Students in IrelandThis project was conducted in response to limited data and information regarding gender minorities within the Irish third-level education system, 1 as well as disproportionately high rates of transphobic violence within the Republic of Ireland (some of the highest within the EU). 2 To address this, a survey was disseminated to trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming (GNC) students, recent graduates, and persons who did not complete their programme. This survey was designed to understand the realities of the community’s experience, gain insight into the current milieu and social climate, and give students an opportunity to have their voices heard. Additionally, it allowed the research team to gather demographic and statistical information that is critical for understanding the community’s key characteristics.
