    Enabling customized & personalized interfaces in mobile computing
    Providing an intuitive and ubiquitous interface to those services aimed at the mobile computing community continues to preoccupy both service providers and certain sections of the research community. In this short paper, we present a snapshot of a system that is under ongoing development and reflect briefly on the initial results of some user evaluations. Based on these, we identify some critical problems with the current implementation and present a design orientated towards significantly improving the end user experience and making the interface more adaptable such that it meets the expectations and requirements of the user

    EasyLife : a location aware service oriented mobile information system
    Many examples of Location-aware services have been developed in recent years as the enabling technologies mature. However, these services frequently exist in isolation and address specific niche markets. The diversity of the mobile computing community suggests that enabling dynamic combinations of location-area services would be an appropriate deployment strategy. In this way, customers could subscribe to those services that address their particular needs. This paper introduces EasyLife, an agent-based architecture designed to facilitate the development of suites of location-aware services that customers can configure according to their preferences.

    Simulating interaction with wireless sensor networks
    Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) are primarily regarded as data gathering entities that route data to a central server for subsequent processing. However, as WSN technologies mature and their prevalence increases, it is envisaged that a range of diverse and innovative services for mobile subscribers will be launched, of which some may require remote access and interaction with individual WSNs. Such an eventuality will give rise to additional constraints in the WSN planning and deployment processes, and raise particular challenges in the practical engineering of mobile applications and services. In this paper, a simulation tool is described. This tool enables software engineers rapidly model WSN deployments, and in this way, explore how interactions between mobile users and WSNs may occur.

    FreeGaming : mobile, collaborative, adaptive and augmented ExerGaming
    Addressing the obesity epidemic that plagues many societies remains an outstanding public health issue. One innovative approach to addressing this problem is Exergaming. A combination of "Exercise" and "Gaming", the objective is to motivate people participate in exercise regimes, usually in their home environment. In this paper a more holistic interpretation of this exercise paradigm is proposed. Freegaming augments Exergaming in a number of key dimensions but especially through the promotion of games in outdoor mobile contexts and within a social environment. The design and implementation of a platform for Freegaming is described and illustrated through the description of a sample game.
