Drag-and-drop for older adults using touchscreen devices: effects of screen sizes and interaction techniques on accuracy
This study investigates the accuracy of drag-and-drop interaction for older adults by analyzing the number of supplementary attempts for positioning a target during the execution of tactile puzzle games on two different screen sizes, tablet and smartphone, with finger and pen interaction. 24 older subjects (aged 65 to 86) participated of the experiment. The results showed that there is a significant effect of the interaction techniques during interaction on smartphone. Subjects were more accurate during pen interaction on both screen sizes. Age effects were significant but subjects aged 80 years old or oldest sometimes performed better than subjects aged 70 to 79 years old, especially during pen interaction. This study shows that drag-and-drop is an efficient technique for moving targets even on small touchscreen devices and pen interaction may help older users to execute more accurate drag-and-drop interaction on touchscreen devices.

Interaction techniques for older adults using touchscreen devices: a literature review from 2000 to 2013
Some remarkable advances in mobile technologies have been made on the past fifteen years, especially the adoption of direct input on the screen. Since aging is now a worldwide demographic phenomenon, several studies have been carried on to investigate and improve the interaction between older aged adults and these new technologies. These studies are important because mobile devices are often equipped with touchscreen and they can help to improve quality of life for older adults (health care, social life, serious games). Understanding interaction of this group of users with touchscreen can facilitate the adoption of interactive technologies and their future use by older populations. This literature review analyses thirty six studies that evaluated interaction techniques for older users using touchscreen devices. This review intends to 1) analyze the situation of thirty six studies (population, apparatus, tasks and interaction techniques) and 2) identify situations of use of touchscreen devices and interaction techniques that need to be further studied. As results, a descriptive analysis of the populations included, the chosen apparatus, executed tasks and interaction techniques are presented, so as a summary of relevant parameters to consider for studies of tactile interaction techniques. On each topic, we discuss about the results, the authors’ recommendations and we provide cues for future work.

HCI Challenges in Human Movement Analysis
Assessing human bodies' postures and positions enables to design new interaction techniques, to understand users' performances and to evaluate ergonomics of devices. In addition ot the applications for improving Human-Computer Interaction, human movement analysis is at the heart of other types of usages including sports, rehabilitation, gesture recognition, etc. This workshop aims at providing a platform for researchers and designers to discuss the challenges related to the processing (e.g., data collection, treatment, interpretation, recognition) of human movement (e.g., motor skills, amplitude of movements, limitations). We expect to identify the main challenges to be addressed and come up with a research agenda to give HCI new perspectives and suggest promising directions.
