At the 1984 Annual Dinner of the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants, Mr. R. Hickok, Chairman of the "Future Issues" committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), outlined 14 issues facing the accounting profession in the US. One of these issues was that "the upward mobility of women in public accounting needs to be strengthened. There is a high probability that women will constitute more than half of the accountancy profession within two decades ..."
