Abstract
Official policy needs to catch up to the social reality that Ireland is a country of immigration, which requires a comprehensive and coordinated policy to ensure the long-term integration of immigrants into Irish society. There is much support within the state and the expanded community of social partners for a progressive approach to immigration and a policy of integration that extends beyond the rhetoric of cead míle fáilte.
