Abstract
David Marcus, announce editors Paul Delaney and Deirdre Madden in their introduction to this volume, ‘was the most influential literary editor in Ireland in the twentieth century’. The book’s twenty-eight contributors build a convincing composite argument to support the claim. The collection is in part a group biography combining individual tributes (some deeply personal) with a desire to give Marcus his place within Irish literary history. As such, it functions as an invaluable resource for those interested in his editorial activities as well as in postwar literary culture more broadly.
