Abstract
This working paper sets out the RIGHTS-TO-UNITE initial theoretical framework. This framework will inform the qualitative socio-legal comparison to be undertaken within the RIGHTS-TO-UNITE project and will be revised after each step of this research. The paper begins with a condensed introduction to the notion of European integration as societalization, capturing our initial perceptions of the integrative and disintegrative effects of European integration on European societies and the emerging European society, culminating in our specific understanding of Europeanization through societalization.
