Educating Europe's Radiographers: Current Challenges and Future Directions

Rapid technological developments and the desire for more comprehensive and accurate diagnosis and therapies, place significant pressures on healthcare systems. It is therefore essential that working practices within diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology are flexible and streamlined to ensure we get the most out of the technologies available to us, which in turn, should optimise patient experience. High educational standards for radiographers are of the utmost our work practices to facilitate advanced practice across diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology. As the umbrella organisation for 39 national radiographer societies and 57 educational institutions, representing over 100,000 radiographers and over 8000 radiography students across Europe, the EFRS has a role in raising the profile of the radiography profession and of radiography education amidst the diversity.
