Abstract
This paper focuses on how healthcare professionals are positioned as key figures of empowerment for marginalised communities and key in the journey to sexual empowerment, The paper problematises the figure of healthcare professionals as benevolent, and reimagines primary care as a community-led endeavour. By reflecting on research conducted in the USA and Ireland the paper suggests what healthcare professional facilitated community-led healthcare might be.
