|Title:||The psychology of divorce: A synthesis of the literature||Authors:||Carr, Alan||Permanent link:||http://hdl.handle.net/10197/5459||Date:||Nov-1995||Abstract:||In this synthesis of the international literature on psychological aspects of divorce, the causes and consequences of divorce for parents and children are summarized. The majority of parents and children show no major long-term adverse psychological consequences to divorce. Personal and contextual factors that mediate the impact of divorce on parents and children and that may account of the negative impact of divorce on a minority of parents and children are also examined. The impact of mediation and of post-divorce therapy are described and priorities for research and service development identified.||Type of material:||Journal Article||Publisher:||Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children||Journal:||Journal of Child Centred Practice||Volume:||2||Start page:||101||End page:||113||Copyright (published version):||1995 Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children||Keywords:||Divorce; Family therapy||Language:||en||Status of Item:||Peer reviewed|
