This paper is the first in a series of three which addresses itself to the problem. These three papers are based on a study of a cohort of Irish drug abusers. This, the first paper in the series, focuses on the social background of the subjects. The second paper will deal with their psychological characteristics. In the third paper a psycho-social typology of drug abusers will be presented.||Type of material:||Journal Article||Publisher:||Irish Medical Organization||Copyright (published version):||1980 Irish Medical Organization||Keywords:||Drug abusers;Social conditions||Language:||en||Status of Item:||Peer reviewed|
