However, it is important to stress that health is also strongly influenced by lifestyle, genetic .and environmental factors, Having said this, the debate and interest in dietary issues and in food safety continues unabated. This article gives an account of recent and ongoing activity in the area of diet, healthy eating, and human nutrition at The National Food Centre (NFC) and how the programme has evolved and developed over a number of years.
