From Small Sensors to Big Data
|Title:||From Small Sensors to Big Data||Authors:||Smyth, Barry||Permanent link:||http://hdl.handle.net/10197/8143||Date:||4-Sep-2015||Abstract:||In our increasingly digitized world almost everything we do creates a record that is stored somewhere, whether we are purchasing a book, calling a friend, ordering a meal, or renting a movie. And in today's world of sensors and internet-enabled devices, smartphones and wearables, this is no longer just limited to our online activities. Exercising in the park, shopping for groceries, falling asleep, or even taking a shower, are just some of the everyday real-world activities that are likely to generate data. This is the big data world of the so-called Sensor Web.||Funding Details:||Science Foundation Ireland||Type of material:||Conference Publication||Publisher:||ACM||Copyright (published version):||2015 the Authors||Keywords:||Recommender systems||DOI:||10.1145/2700171.2790380||Language:||en||Status of Item:||Peer reviewed||Conference Details:||26th ACM Conference on Hypertext and Social Media (HT 2015), Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus, Cyprus, 1-4 September 2015|
