Abstract: This Document - Foster Care: Envisioning the Future – gives an overview of the current views and concerns of social workers in relation to foster care in Ireland. It is the product of consultation and discussion initiated by SWIFC, the Social Workers in Foster Care special interest group (SIG) of the IASW (Irish Association of Social Workers). The role of social work in the development and delivery of alternative care is therefore a primary focus of the document.
