Brennan, NiamhNiamhBrennan2011-06-032011-06-0320109780717149902http://hdl.handle.net/10197/2962This chapter provides an overview of corporate governance, with particular emphasis on governance research with an Irish perspective. Various definitions of corporate governance are examined, followed by a summary of the mechanisms of governance, both internal and external. The various theories applied in prior governance research are discussed. This is followed by a summary of prior empirical and other governance research. For reasons of space, only prior research with an Irish angle is reviewed. This is a fraction of the prior research on governance internationally, and governance researchers are encouraged to read more widely to obtain a more comprehensive view of prior governance research. The chapter concludes with some suggestions for further research.146354 bytesapplication/pdfenCorporate governanceCorporate governance definitionsMechanisms of governancePrior governance researchCorporate governance--IrelandCorporate governance--ResearchA review of corporate governance research : an Irish perspectiveBook Chapterhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/
