School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science

The School of Public Health, Physiotherapy & Population Science is an amalgamation of the two schools formerly known as the School of Physiotherapy & Performance Science and the School of Public Health & Population Science.

The School of Physiotherapy & Performance Science has offered University-based professional education for Physiotherapists since the original UCD School of Physiotherapy was founded in 1955. The broad aim of the School is to provide an environment in which Physiotherapy flourishes as both an academic and professional discipline and which fosters a spirit of enquiry, research and excellence in practice.

The School of Public Health and Population Science is Ireland’s leader in this field and offer inter-disciplinary opportunities for learning and research to students from this country and across the world. The School’s research programmes are organised into distinct hubs of activity, including sports studies, safety, health and welfare at work, environmental studies, health service research and chronic disease epidemiology. The School is also home to two of Ireland’s major resources, the National Nutrition Surveillance Centre and the Cystic Fibrosis Registry.
